SUBJECT:  Peterson Air & Space Museum Foundation Volunteer Staff Meeting, 0900 hours 25 April 2008

1.       OPENING REMARKS:  WHALEN called to meeting to order at 0900hours.

2.       OLD BUSINESS:

a.       LAST MEETING MINUTES:  Reviewed and accepted.

b.      F-101B (West Gate):  AC may be moved to East Gate or Returned to NMAF.

c.       CMOC ARTIFACTS:  May move some items to the Museum.  Review under way.

d.      MMIII:  Missile will be located on the Museum’s grounds.  ECD:  1Sept 08.

e.      PKMPT DEDICATION:  Scheduled for 1500, 9 May 08 (in City Hangar).  Need six volunteers for ushers.  Senior official will be AFSPC/CC

f.        GUARDIAN CHALLENGE:  PAFB will host 6-9 May.  Parking will be difficult at the Museum.  Possibility of protestors at the North Gate-Volunteer should avoid using that Gate.

g.       SHRIEVER AFB:  The Museum will have a PA&SM volunteer information table at SAFB 1000-1330 9 May 08.

h.      NMAF SENIOR CURATOR VISIT:  Mr. Terry Aitken will visit the Museum 1000-1500hrs 30 April 08.

i.         TDY:  WHALEN & NASH will be TDY for a conference in Denver 28 Apr 08-2 May 08.

j.        AF FUNDS:  May receive 35K for AC restoration in August.

k.       RAMP RATS:  Need a number of volunteers for a work day to accomplish minor repair work in the Air Park.  Will use Base Newspaper and contact Vossier NCOA about need for volunteers to help.

l.         AC POSTERS:  Working on F-89 poster.  Others now available in the Gift Shop (both laminated or unlaminated.

m.    AD EXHIBIT:  Two meetings by the working group.  Making good progress  on research  on 1)  “Threat and USAF Response” 2) Ground Environment Systems 3) Interceptor display 4) ARADCOM history 5) developing  a LED light color-coded display to depict DEW, Mid Canada, Pinetree, CONUS radar network, Nike, HAWK & BOMARC missile systems, and AEW&C systems, etc.  Working group is still in the research, data gathering and planning stages.

n.      FINANCIAL REPORT:  As of 30 Mar 08: $19,443 in the bank, $9,502 expenditures and $5,726 income.  Good month for the Gift Shop: $1,624.

o.      FAREWELL:  Farewell gala held to departing President Mike DRENNAN.   Presentations made by Chairman DOUGLAS and Curator WHALEN.

p.      BLACK GANG:  City Hangar floor painted in preparation of the PK MPT dedication.

3.       NEW BUSINESS: 

a.       CMOC EXHIBIT:  HQS NORAD is having a replica of the CMOC entrance built for NORAD’s anniversary gala.  Replica will be donated to the Museum.

b.      KUDOs:  Visitor’s thank you letters were received and presented to Dick Burns, Gordon Scott, John Brown, Jim Palmer and Gus Freyer.

4.       NEXT MEETING:  0900hrs, 23 May 2008 in the Conference Room.  (31 May 08 holiday).
