Access Instructions to Peterson Air & Space Museum
for those Without Military
Identification.
The Peterson Air & Space Museum is located on
Peterson Air Force Base and is
open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00am to 4:00pm. The
museum is closed
Sundays, Mondays, and federal holidays. Peterson AFB is a
restricted military
base and subject to changes in security levels at any
time. If you would like to
visit the museum, please contact the museum staff at
719-556-4915 or 556-8314 to
check for any changes to operating hours and to provide
any necessary
information for an enjoyable visit.
If you or no one in your party possesses a current
military or Department of
Defense identification (active duty, retired, or civilian
employee), you must
contact museum staff in advance of your visit to arrange
base access. You must
provide the full names of any adults (18 or older) in
your party, the last six
(6) digits of their Social Security Numbers or passport
numbers for foreign
visitors, their Dates of Birth, and the date and time you
would like to visit
the museum. We then forward that information to the
Visitor Control Center for
base Security Forces personnel to do a background check
and process a visitor
pass. We need visitor information at least 24 hours prior
to your visit. For
Saturday visits, we will need to have your information at
least 72 hours prior
to your visit.
On the day of your visit, all adults must possess a valid
government-issued
photo identification (such as a drivers license) to enter
the base. For Tuesday
through Friday visitors, you will obtain a pass at the
Visitor Control Center,
which is located next to the West Gate (east of Powers
Boulevard on Airport
Road). On Saturdays, you’ll obtain your visitor pass at
the West Gate guard
house. Vehicle drivers must also provide a current
vehicle registration and
proof of insurance to the Visitor Center staff or
security personnel for visitor
pass processing. If you are driving a rental vehicle,
please bring a valid copy
of your home auto insurance card or other proof of
insurance with you, along with
your rental agreement. Visitor Center staff will not
accept a rental agreement as
proof of insurance. By accepting the pass, you permit
security personnel to search
your vehicle at any time you are on Peterson AFB.
